My artistic practise is
camera-based with a particular focus on researching the fundamental nature
of the photographic image. I am interested in the position of photography
in our society and the everyday, how it affects us, our perception of ourselves,
our experience and our memory.
In my projects I investigate
the relation between reality, perception and representation and the part of
the photographic image in this relationship. With the photographic portrait
as a starting point, a lot of my work originates in my interest to explore
the photographic encounter, power structures and relations and the effect
of the photographic gaze. I use video as an extension of the photographic
moment exposing the instability of the pose. I wish to further investigate
the space between photography and video and the aspect of time in the representation
of a reality.
Using an experimental documentary form as a starting point to represent social observations, all my projects relate to a reality and aim to observe, document, represent and juxtapose and in that way create the possibility for other comprehensions. When presented to different perceptions of a reality, one will be forced to reflect, in which way the meeting will always offer something new and juxtaposition is an important method.
